Welcome to justinverstijnen.nl.
This website is mainly my personal technical documentation platform. I use it to write down things I learn, test, build, troubleshoot, or simply want to remember later. If that information helps someone else along the way, even better.
By using this website, its pages, posts, scripts, downloads, tools, or other content, you agree to the terms below.
1. About this website
The main purpose of this website is to share technical knowledge, practical experience, examples, and educational content.
Most of the content is written from the perspective of one IT person sharing information with another. I try to keep things practical and understandable instead of turning every article into formal documentation.
This website is not official documentation for Microsoft, Google, GitHub, Ubiquiti, or any other company or product mentioned here unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Products, services, portals, commands, licensing, interfaces, best practices, and technical recommendations can change over time. Always check current official documentation when it matters.
2. Privacy, cookies and analytics
I prefer to keep tracking on this website limited, but the website is no longer completely cookie-free.
There are two main reasons why website-related data may be processed: basic website analytics and advertising.
2.1 Umami Analytics
I use Umami to get basic insight into how the website is being used, for example which pages are viewed and general website traffic.
Umami is a privacy-focused analytics platform and is designed to work without cookies. It is separate from Google advertising on this website.
The goal of using Umami is simply to understand whether pages are being read and which content is useful to visitors, rather than to follow individual visitors around the internet.
2.2 Google advertising
This website may display advertisements provided by Google, including Google AdSense.
Google and its advertising partners may use technologies such as cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to serve, measure, limit the frequency of, and report on advertisements.
Depending on your location, consent choices, and Google’s settings, advertisements may be personalized or non-personalized. Even non-personalized advertisements may use cookies or similar technologies for things such as frequency capping and aggregated advertising reports.
Google may also use information from visits to this website or other websites when personalized advertising is allowed.
You can read more about how Google uses information from partner websites here:
How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
You can manage Google advertising personalization here:
Where consent is legally required, advertising cookies or similar technologies should only be used in line with the consent choices provided to you.
2.3 Third-party services
Some content may load resources from third-party services. Those services may process technical information needed to provide their functionality.
Once you interact with an external service or leave a Justin Verstijnen-owned domain, the privacy policy and terms of that external service also apply.
3. Advertisements
Running a website, hosting content, testing cloud services, and maintaining technical examples costs time and money.
To help cover part of those costs, advertisements may be shown on this website, including advertisements provided by Google.
Advertisements can appear in different locations on a page. I try to keep them reasonably limited and avoid making them unnecessarily disruptive to the main content.
The presence of an advertisement does not mean that I personally recommend, approve, or have tested the advertised product or service.
Unless I explicitly say otherwise, advertisers do not influence the technical opinions, tutorials, scripts, or other editorial content published on this website.
4. Purpose of the website
This website is primarily educational and informational.
The content is made freely available and the main goal is still knowledge sharing, even though advertising or donation options may be used to help cover website-related costs.
I do not provide a support contract, service-level agreement, consultancy agreement, or other professional service simply because information is published here or because you use it.
Nothing published on this website should automatically be treated as professional, legal, financial, compliance, security, or other specialist advice for your specific situation.
5. Using information from this website
You are welcome to learn from and use the technical information on this website.
That includes things such as:
- commands
- scripts
- configuration examples
- troubleshooting steps
- architectural ideas
- technical explanations
- tutorials
- recommendations
However, you are responsible for deciding whether something is suitable for your own environment.
A command that works perfectly in my lab or environment may behave differently in yours. A setting that makes sense for one tenant, network, server, endpoint, or organization may be a bad choice somewhere else.
Before using information in a production environment, I strongly recommend that you understand what it does, check current vendor documentation, make appropriate backups, and test it first where possible.
You are also responsible for making sure that your use of the information complies with the laws, regulations, contracts, licenses, security requirements, and internal policies that apply to you.
6. Accuracy and outdated information
I make a reasonable effort to keep information accurate, useful, and understandable, but I cannot promise that every page is always complete, error-free, or fully up to date.
Technology changes quickly. A post can be correct when written and become outdated later because a vendor changes a portal, API, product name, feature, command, license, security recommendation, or default setting.
Dates on posts can help you judge how old information is, but age alone does not tell you whether something is still correct.
For important, production, security-sensitive, legal, financial, or business-critical changes, verify the information with current official documentation before relying on it.
Where useful, I include references or source material in posts so you can check the original information yourself.
6.1 Reporting problems
If you find a typo, outdated instruction, broken link, incorrect technical detail, or another problem, feel free to report it.
Some pages contain a report button that opens a GitHub issue form. Please include enough information for me to understand what needs to be checked.
I will try to correct genuine problems when I can, but I cannot promise a specific response or resolution time.
7. Use at your own risk and liability
Technical content can have real-world consequences. A PowerShell command, firewall rule, Conditional Access policy, DNS change, script, registry change, cloud configuration, or other technical action can cause unexpected results when used incorrectly or in a different environment.
For that reason, all information and materials on this website are provided on an as-is and use-at-your-own-risk basis.
You remain responsible for what you do with the information.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, I am not liable for damage, loss, or other consequences resulting from the use, misuse, interpretation, copying, modification, or implementation of information from this website.
This includes, where applicable:
- loss or corruption of data
- system or service outages
- loss of availability
- configuration mistakes
- security incidents
- loss of revenue, profit, or business
- business interruption
- additional costs
- loss of reputation or goodwill
- reputational damage
- third-party claims
- other direct or indirect financial or non-financial loss
This also applies when information was incomplete, outdated, incorrect, misunderstood, or used in an environment for which it was not originally written.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability where doing so is not permitted by applicable law.
8. Scripts, downloads and tools
Some pages may include scripts, code, downloadable files, calculators, or other tools.
I try to publish material that is useful and safe, but you should still review scripts and code before running them and understand what they change.
Do not assume that a script is suitable for production simply because it is available on this website.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, tools and scripts are provided without guaranteed support, maintenance, compatibility, availability, or future updates.
If a script or project contains its own license, that license takes priority for the code covered by it.
9. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Some content on this website may include material generated or supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
I remain the person who decides what gets published. AI may be used for things such as creating a first draft, improving structure, helping with explanations, or generating part of a script or image. I may then review, edit, test, expand, or combine that material with my own practical experience.
AI-generated content can still contain mistakes. The same rules about accuracy, verification, and use at your own risk apply to AI-assisted content.
9.1 AI Content Tagging
Where I consider it relevant for transparency, content that contains AI-generated material may be tagged with:
AI-Generated-Content
A tag does not necessarily mean that the complete page was generated by AI. It can also mean that only part of the text, code, image, or other content involved AI assistance.
For example, tagged content can be found here:
AI Generated Content on justinverstijnen.nl
AI Generated Content on the Flight Blog
9.2 Scope of AI usage
AI assistance may be used for:
- blog post content
- text
- images
- scripts
- code examples
Not every use of spelling correction, translation, formatting, metadata, or other small editorial assistance will necessarily receive an AI tag.
10. Re-use and re-publishing
One of the main reasons this website exists is to make technical knowledge useful to other people.
You may use technical ideas, commands, examples, and scripts from the website in your own work or environment, subject to the terms on this page and any separate license that applies.
Using information is different from re-publishing my content.
If you copy or re-publish a substantial part of an article, image, guide, or other original content, please clearly credit the source and link back to the original page.
Do not present my original content as if you created it yourself.
Third-party trademarks, screenshots, documentation, code, images, or other materials referenced on this website remain subject to the rights and licenses of their respective owners.
11. External links and third-party tools
This website may link to websites, documentation, downloads, tools, products, or services operated by other parties.
I do not control those external services and cannot guarantee their content, security, privacy practices, availability, accuracy, or future behavior.
A link from this website does not automatically mean that I endorse everything on the linked website.
You are responsible for checking whether an external website, download, tool, or service is suitable and safe for your own use.
Once you leave a Justin Verstijnen-owned domain, the terms and privacy policies of the external service apply.
12. Availability and changes
I may change, move, update, or remove website content at any time.
I also cannot guarantee that this website, a specific page, download, script, image, tool, or external reference will always remain available.
Links may break, products may disappear, and old content may eventually be archived or removed.
13. Changes to these Terms
These Terms and Conditions may be updated when the website, its features, advertising, analytics, or the way content is published changes.
The latest version will be available on this page.
Continuing to use the website after an update means that the current version of these Terms applies to your use of the website.
14. Contact
If you have a question about these Terms, spot something that is incorrect, or want to report a problem, you can contact me.
My contact details are available on the About page.
15. Final note
The idea behind this website is simple: share useful technical knowledge with other people without pretending that a blog post can account for every possible environment.
Use the information, learn from it, improve it where needed, and always check what a change will do before applying it somewhere important.
